Do I need an ID to visit a CHSL library?

Answer

Please note: our ID Policies are different than that of the Kelvin Smith Library, which has its own ID Policy.

The Cleveland Health Sciences Library has two locations, which have different ID requirements:

The Allen Memorial Library ID Policy

  • CWRU students, faculty, and staff must scan their Case ID card upon entry.
  • All other visitors do not require an ID, though we reserve the right to check.  This includes CIA and CIM students, Alumni, UH or VA residents, and the general public.

Health Education Campus (HEC) library ID Policy

Only students, faculty and staff who have classes or work in the Samson Pavilion (HEC) have their Case ID cards programmed to be able to swipe in at the entry point.

The HEC programmed ID is necessary to gain entry to the building, but once in the building your card is usually not needed. You don't have to present it to enter the Quiet Space and Library area once in the HEC.

We welcome visits from individuals and groups.

  • Advance notice is required. Email Jean Seneff at jean@case.edu or call 216.368.5027 to make arrangements.
  • Visitor parking is available across the street from the Sheila and Eric Samson Pavilion in Cleveland Clinic’s JJ Garage.
